Lagarde Law IN Bogalusa

Bogalusa was founded in the early 1900s and became known as the “Magic City” due to its explosive growth.  The city was built as a mill company town around what was the largest sawmill in the world at the time, with a railroad constructed to connect the town’s timber and paper mill operations to northern markets.

The Bogalusa Railroad Station, built in 1907, became the epicenter of the town and its activities.  Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, the building features unique design elements like semi-octagonal ticket windows and original pine brackets from wood milled in Bogalusa.  The last trains ceased operations out of the Bogalusa station in 1972.  However, trains still roll by, a nostalgic reminder of the building’s significance to the town’s past.

The historic building was featured in the 2025 blockbuster movie Sinners, as a stand-in for the 1930’s Mississippi train depot.

The prominent landmark is now home to our Bogalusa office.  It is an honor to preserve the building’s heritage and to help protect a piece of the story of Louisiana.
